How is ZipClip easier or better than anything else available?
ZipClip is truly a unique, new service. There is no other way to easily and quickly send great stuff you find while browsing the web from your computer, and send it straight to your mobile phone or a friend's.
ZipClip is also free, but please remember your mobile phone carrier will charge you for internet access, so those charges do apply (sorry, couldn't control this!).
Back to topWhat makes ZipClip easy and effortless?
If you really wanted to, you could download something from the web to your computer, connect a cable from your computer to your phone, and then transfer to your phone. But that would take lots of time and effort.
If you really really wanted to, you could attach stuff you find on the web to an email message, send that email to yourself, open your email application on the phone, read that email message, detach the attached stuff in your email from your phone and save it somewhere on the phone. Do we need to say more (and is anyone still reading?)
Another thing you could do if you have lots of time is use a web based SMS/Text messaging service from your computer to send the URL web page address (where you found something interesting) to your phone. Then, go to your phone, find the SMS/text message, open the URL link, and start browsing the web site from your phone. We all know, getting a good view of a web page on your phone isn't the prettiest experience.
With ZipClip, all of the above effort and hassle goes away. No cables, no email attachments, no SMS/text links or trying to browse the web from your phone. A simple right click while browsing on your computer lets you send anything you want to your phone, or spread it to a friend.
Back to topWhat makes ZipClip better?
ZipClip sends exactly what you want to the phone.
Did you know that today, if you try to text message (SMS) something from the web to your phone, the technology tries to send the whole PAGE? It's a pretty bad experience that is almost useless. You get multiple text messages with content you didn't even want.
We heard what you want. You want just the one object...the fun stuff (a photo, video, or an article) sent in a neat and clean manner so you can access this on your phone. We then created a simple way to select just that object and send it via the internet for you to view on your phone.
Back to topWhat do you mean by "fun up your phone"?
Today, your mobile phone is great for talking, texting, taking pictures and videos, and personalizing with ringtones or wallpaper. Many of you said you couldn't live without it.
But ...we heard you say you still wanted more.
First: you wanted your phone to offer more entertainment, more usefulness, and simply put - more fun. Then, you wanted an easy way to "spread" your fun to others. Well, we worked hard to achieve this and ZipClip makes this possible.
Second: you wanted to easily "load-up" your phone up with lots of great videos, photos, and any type of text or article you might come across while browsing ANY website from your computer, not just a select few. There's so much great stuff out there after all, why limit it? ZipClip gives you the power to tap into it all.
So, don't limit your imagination or your fun. Do with ZipClip as you will. Our goal was to simply create a useful, easy tool you could take and apply to make your mobile phone more fun and useful. We hope you enjoy this whole new way to easily "fun up your phone."
Back to topIs ZipClip free? How does the company make money?
Yes, ZipClip is free. However, to use ZipClip you must access the web on your phone. This means your mobile phone carrier will charge you for the internet access. This is not something we can control, nor do we make money from this.
Independent of this, we are working hard to be a profitable enterprise and evaluating ways to make money that will be consistent with giving you a great experience.
Back to topDoes ZipClip use up my text messages or voice minutes?
No. Using ZipClip from your computer or from your phone will not use up text messages or voice minutes. For example with ZipClip you can send as many videos, photos, etc. as you want from your computer to your friends' phones at no cost to you. Your carrier might charge you for accessing internet.
You may use your text messages if you send a share invitation or send clips to your friend from using your phone. You may also incur text message charges if you upload photos or videos to your ZipClip account from your phone.
Back to topHow do I get ZipClip?
For the best user experience and to take full advantage of ZipClip features, you need to install ZipClip application on your computer and your mobile phone. You can still enjoy ZipClip by installing on computer or on your phone.
To get ZipClip, go to the home page and simply click on "Get It Now" and follow the instructions.
Tech talk: The application we put on your computer, but more accurately - on your browser, is called a "browser add-on." The application sent to your phone is a small java application we send via text message (SMS) which you then download like any other application you send to your phone (games, ring tones, etc.)
Back to topHow do I get ZipClip on my computer's browser?

Back to topTell me the basics of using ZipClip on my computer
Once you've installed ZipClip on your computer's browser and your mobile phone, simply browse the web from your computer like you normally do. When you find something you want to send to your phone or "spread" to a friend's phone, do the following:
Photo or Image - put your cursor on top of the image, and right click.
Video - put your cursor next to it, and right click. (In the white space around the video image.)
Text - highlight the text, then right click.
Audio or music - today, this is a bit difficult for a few tricky technical reasons. You may sometimes be successful with it, but more often than not, it will not work.
But, you may be lucky or find a site that seems to compatible with ZipClip. To try it out, put your cursor next to an audio link (in the space around it), then right click. If it doesn't work, you'll get an immediate error message. If it does work, you'll have it on your phone and in your ZipClip inbox.
Back to topMore about the right click menu
Right-clicking your mouse pops up a ZipClip menu from your browser on your computer that looks like this:
"Send to my phone" sends what you selected straight to your mobile phone.
"Send to my friends" will open a dialog box where you can select the friend or friends you want to send the clips to.
"Send to ringtone maker" makes a audio ringtone from most any video. Simply right click next to the video you'd like to make a ringtone of and this feature will take the first 20 seconds of that video (audio only, naturally) to make a ringtone. This audio clip gets sent to your phone. Follow your phone's standard process to make this file a ringtone, caller or messaging tone, etc.
Special note for "Send to ringtone maker." On our beta confessions page, we told you that audio is difficult to clip and send to your phone. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't and there are some technical issues surrounding this. Nonetheless, if you are able to clip and send an audio file, you could then simply save that to your phone and make it a ringtone. It has been done; it's just not always possible.
"View my Clips" takes you to your ZipClip inbox on your computer (opens a window or tab in your browser).
Here, you have a quick view of everything you've uploaded to your phone and can delete or send to a friend from this easy interface.
If something (video, photo, etc.) you sent has not been uploaded for some reason, you'll see next to the file name. If there is an error, delete the file and try again.
